Benefits of Painting
"When compared to high costs of overseeding, painting of golf course greens could potentially save a golf course significant dollars each year to be applied in other areas of required maintenance"  --Clemson University TurfGrass Study

The obvious reason people chose to paint their field is for the looks -- a beautiful, consistent green field makes the game more enjoyable for players and fans.  There are benefits other than just the appearance that you'll be happy to know:

1.  PROTECTION FROM HARSH WINTER COLD.

The paint acts as a protective barrier for the grass.  The paint helps absorb sunlight, making the soil temperatures underneath warmer than unpainted areas.  This protects the roots, and has the grass better equiped to "green up" on its own sooner than normal come Spring.

2.  QUALITY RESULTS WITHOUT THE TIME AND HASSLE.

You can spend all winter trying to keep your field up, investing the time and money it takes to do so, or you can have it painted and free up yourself, your staff, your money for other things.

3.  HEALTHY FOR THE GRASS.

The paint contains a slight amount of ammonia, which breaks down into nitrogen, a natural fertilizer for grass.  While it's not like applying straight fertilizer, it is a step in the right direction.

The process of over-seeding is actually unhealthy for the grass, as the grass has to compete with the rye for nutrients.  Rye grass also shades the dormant grass underneath, preventing it from getting the sunlight it needs.

4.  NO SPRING BURNOFF.

Yet another cost of over-seeding is you have to kill off the winter rye that you planted back in the fall.   Also, by painting your grass instead of over-seeding, your grass doesn't have to compete with the rye.

The bottom line is that painting can help you and your field.   You want a green field, but the old fashioned way is just too much.  We have the right paint and equipment to get the job done.

You can have a green field no matter what time of year!

Painting Versus Overseeding

"Painting has greater positive effects and no negative effects on dormant bermudagrass when compared to effects and drawbacks of overseeding....Painting is a safe, suitable alternative to overseeding for winter color" --Clemson University Turfgrass Study

If you have had us paint your field before, you already understand the reasons to chose painting instead of over-seeding.

Over-seeding is a time consuming and expensive process with no guarantee of results.

When you over-seed with rye, you are hoping that the rye grass will "take" and grow during the winter months, though there's no guarantee that it will.  You have to spend time and money fertilizing it, watering it, continuously working with it in hopes that it will provide you with the green you're desiring.

Even then the results you get aren't always consistent.  Certain areas may have taken, while others may have not.

Hopefully, you will get consistent results and have green throughout your field.  CONGRATULATIONS!!  Now you have to spend all winter mowing and maintaining that grass.  More time and more money you're spending.

What happens in the Spring when the warm weather grass is ready to "come alive" again?  You have to kill off the winter rye...more time, more money.  Meanwhile, the original warm weather grass is struggling because it has had to compete with the rye all winter for nutrients.

When you consider the cost of the seed, the fertilizer, the water, the gas for the mower, the labor costs...it really adds up.    Think of all the money and time you're....well....wasting.

Why go through all that hassle?   Our theory is let the grass go into its natural dormant state, and paint the grass to give it it color.  The paint doesn't harm the grass at all, and in fact is much healthier for the grass than over-seeding.
